JavaScript and the APSMO Website


What is JavaScript?
  • JavaScript is a language used to enhance the functionality of websites
  • It is widely used thoughout the internet and is a standard part of modern web-browsers.

Why is JavaScript used on the APSMO Website?

JavaScript is used on this website to:

  • Create dynamic buttons that change colour and display messages
    (This button will only work if JavaScript is enabled)
  • Check that forms are completed before sending information to APSMO

Are there any limitations if I don't enable JavaScript?

Without JavaScript enabled:

  • Some buttons may not work correctly
  • The online store will not work correctly
  • The Members' Area will not work

Is it safe to enable JavaScript for the APSMO Website?
  • Yes. JavaScript is only used to enhance the website and not for any other purpose.
  • You can disable JavaScript after visiting the site if you have any concerns.




How Do I Enable JavaScript?

Windows: Internet Explorer (Versions 7 and 8)

  1. In the Tools menu, select Internet Options
  2. Click on the Security tab.
  3. Select Internet in the zone box.
  4. Click on Custom level… in Security level for this zone.
  5. Scroll down towards the bottom of the list to find the Scripting section.
  6. In Active scripting, select Enable.
  7. Click on OK to close the Security Settings window.
  8. Click on OK to leave the Internet Options window.
  9. Reload the web-page

Windows: Mozilla Firefox (Version 3)

  1. In the Tools menu, select Options
  2. Select Content in the options at the top of the window.
  3. Select (check) the Enable JavaScript box.
  4. Click OK to close the Options window.
  5. Reload the web-page

Windows: Google Chrome

  1. Click on the the options (wrench) icon on the right side of the Chrome toolbar.
  2. Click on Options
  3. Click on Under the Hood in the left menu.
  4. In the Privacy section, click on Content settings.
  5. In the JavaScript section, select Allow all sites to run JavaScript.
  6. Click on the close X in the top right of the Content settings window.
  7. Click on the close X in the top right of the Options tab.
  8. Reload the web-page

Mac: Safari (Version 3)

  1. In the Safari drop-down menu, select Preferences…
  2. Select Security in the options at the top of the window.
  3. In the Web content section, select the Enable plug-ins, Enable Java and Enable JavaScript boxes.
  4. Close the Security window.
  5. Reload the web-page

Mac: Mozilla Firefox (Version 3)

  1. In the Firefox drop-down menu, select Preferences
  2. Select Content in the options at the top of the window.
  3. Select (check) the Enable JavaScript box.
  4. Close the Options window.
  5. Reload the web-page

Linux (Ubuntu): Mozilla Firefox (Version 3)

  1. In the Edit menu, select Preferences
  2. Select Content in the options at the top of the window.
  3. Select (check) the Enable JavaScript box.
  4. Close the Options window.
  5. Reload the web-page
